This page explains what happens to your information when you visit mindfultruthhub.com. I have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not much of a policy.
The short version: I do not sell your data, I do not have a mailing list, and I do not ask you to create an account. Most of what is collected happens automatically through standard web infrastructure, and I have described it honestly below.
Who runs this site
Mindful Truth Hub is a personal psychology and mental health blog written and operated by Owais Khan. It is not a company, a clinic, or a healthcare provider. You can reach me at mindfultruthhub@gmail.com.
What gets collected automatically
Server logs. The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like every web server, theirs records your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you requested and the time you requested them. This happens for every visitor to every website and is not something I switch on or off. It exists so the site can function and so problems can be diagnosed.
Analytics. The site uses Jetpack Stats and Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to tell me roughly how many people visited, which articles they read, and which country they came from. I look at these numbers to decide what to write next. I cannot identify you from them, and I do not try to.
What you give me on purpose
Email. If you email me, I have your email address and whatever you chose to put in the message. I keep it so I can reply and so I have a record of the conversation. I do not add it to any list, because there is no list.
Comments. If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the comment text, the name and email address you entered, and your IP address. Your email is not shown publicly. WordPress also passes an anonymised version of your email to Gravatar to look up a profile picture — Gravatar’s own privacy policy governs that.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for three things: keeping the site working correctly, remembering your details if you leave a comment, and analytics as described above.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may behave oddly if you do, but you will still be able to read everything.
Advertising
I want to be straightforward here, because most privacy policies are not.
At the time of writing, this site displays no advertising. I have applied to Google AdSense, and if that application is approved, ads will begin appearing and this section will apply. I would rather tell you what is planned than pretend it is already happening.
When ads do run: Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers to serve, measure and personalise advertising where permitted, including based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) will be used where required before non-essential advertising technologies are activated.
Who else sees your data
I do not sell or trade your information. It is handled by the services that make the site run:
- Hostinger — hosting and server logs
- Automattic (Jetpack) — site statistics and security
- Google — Analytics, and advertising if and when AdSense is approved
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy. I may also disclose information if I am legally required to, though this has never happened and I do not anticipate it.
How long things are kept
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies still make sense in context. Emails you send me are kept until they are no longer relevant, generally within a couple of years. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s and Automattic’s own retention schedules. Server logs are rotated by Hostinger on their standard cycle.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom, data-protection law may give you rights to request a copy of personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. Visitors in Switzerland may have similar rights under applicable Swiss data-protection law. If you are elsewhere, I will honour the same reasonable requests where I can.
Email mindfultruthhub@gmail.com and I will respond within thirty days. There is no charge.
Where a legal basis is required for processing: analytics and advertising rely on your consent, replying to your email relies on legitimate interest, and keeping the server running relies on legitimate interest.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, email me and I will delete it.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted. Jetpack provides malware scanning and brute-force protection. That said, no website can promise perfect security, and I would rather say so than claim otherwise.
Links to other sites
Articles here link to external sources — research papers, health organisations, published studies. Once you click through, you are on someone else’s site under someone else’s privacy policy. I have no control over what they do.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any way that matters, I will update the date at the top and revise the relevant section. The most likely change is the advertising section becoming active once AdSense is approved.
